Congratulations to Father Herbert Sperger, Director of Spiritual Formation for our College Seminary, who has been elected President of the Federation of Seminary Spiritual Directors (FSSD). The FSSD is the association for all directors of spiritual formation and personal spiritual directors working in Catholic seminaries in the United States and Canada.

Archbishop Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, visited our seminary yesterday, October 26. His visit brought great honor and blessings to our campus! The Papal Nuncio’s homily at our evening Mass was hope-filled and joyful – a special gift to our entire seminary community! Please read his inspiring message by clicking on photo to the right and share with others! Archbishop Pierre was the Principal Celebrant of the Mass. Concelebrants included Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap.; Bishop Timothy C. Senior, Seminary Rector and Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia; and Bishops Michael J. Fitzgerald and John J. McIntyre, Auxiliary Bishops of Philadelphia.
Mr. James Despres, Acting Chair of the Department of Philosophy and Director of the Master of Arts in Philosophical Studies (M.A.P.S.) program, has been awarded a grant from the John Templeton Foundation through the Re-Engaging Science in Seminary Formation project at John Carroll University. The $10,000 grant is for the development of a new course at St. Charles Seminary—“Cosmos & Creation: Perspectives on Scientific Discoveries and the Intelligibility of Human Experience.”
On September 22, men in the Theological Seminary as well as Candidates in the School of Diaconal Formation received the ministry of Lector. Bishop Michael Fitzgerald celebrated Mass and preached the homily. St. Charles congratulates all of her new lectors and wishes them God's abundant blessings on their continued formation.
