Congratulations to Fr. Philip Johnson on his Priesthood ordination!

Congratulations and many blessings to Father Philip Johnson, ordained to the Priesthood in Raleigh, North Carolina on Saturday January 7th! He was ordained by Bishop Burbidge. Bishop Senior was there together with St. Charles seminarians and faculty.

Father Philip Johnson, ‘16, is both a blessing and a miracle! In 2008, Philip Johnson, Naval Officer, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. He was told that the median survival time for his cancer was less than two years. Despite the many difficulties he was facing, Philip followed his desire to become a priest, and entered St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.

In addition to dealing with his own pain and suffering from brain cancer during the last several years, Philip has become a powerful spokesperson, empathizing with others dealing with terminal illness and pain, but also speaking out against physician-assisted suicide. Because of his wonderful work, our Sunday Visitor named him one of the 2014 Catholics of the Year. Click HERE to read OSV story.

His testimony before the Connecticut legislature is also moving and inspirational – Click HERE to read testimony reported by NC Catholics.

We thank God for Fr. Philip Johnson! Please keep him and all of our priest alumni in your prayers!
