The Cardinal Foley Lecture Series, part of the St. Charles Seminary Lecture Series, will feature speaker, Kim Daniels, who will present on the topic of the Church and Social Communications. Kim Daniels is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Chicago Law School. She is the associate director of the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life at Georgetown University. Ms. Daniels has been a lead advisor to the U.S. Bishops and Catholic organizations where Church teachings intersect with public life. In 2016, Ms. Daniels was appointed by Pope Francis as a member of the Vatican Dicastery for Communication. Monday, March 11, 2019 - The Relationship Between Faith and Science, 7:00 p.m., Vianney Hall Auditorium
The featured speaker is Professor Stephen Barr, PhD in the department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Delaware. He is also Director of its Bartol Research Institute and President of the Society of Catholic Scientists (https://www.catholicscientists.org). Professor Barr does research in theoretical particle physics, especially grand unified theories, theories of CP violation, neutrino oscillations, and particle cosmology. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society (2011). He is the author of Modern Physics and Ancient Faith (Univ. of Notre Dame Press, 2003).
Thursday, May 2, 2019 – Alumni Jubilarian Mass and Reception St. Charles Borromeo Seminary will host the annual Alumni Jubilarian Mass on Thursday, May 2. Mass will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. in the St. Martin of Tours Chapel, followed by a cocktail and dinner reception.
John Cardinal Foley Symposium and Awards Dinner, May 23, 2019, 7:00 p.m, Vianney Hall,
The symposium features: (1) a public forum to discuss the theme of World Communications Day as presented in the Message written by the Holy Father and (2) presentation of the annual Cardinal Foley Award to a communications professional in virtue of significant contributions made to the world of mass media and social communications.
