Theology Lecture- "The Reformation After 500 Years: An Ecumenical Remembrance"

The first Theology Lecture of the Seminary Lecture Series will be presented by Dr. Timothy George, Dean of Beeson Divinity School of Samford University, on Monday, October 23, titled "The Reformation After 500 Years: An Ecumenical Remembrance." Dr. George has been the dean of Beeson Divinity School since its inception in 1988.  Trained in theology and church history at Harvard University, he is the author of more than twenty books, including Theology of the Reformers, John Calvin and the Church, and Is the Father of Jesus the God of Muhammad?

He also serves as the general editor of the Reformation Commentary on Scripture, a twenty-eight volume series of sixteenth-century exegetical comment.  He serves on the editorial advisory boards of First Things, Christianity Today, and Books & Culture.  He is a life advisory trustee of Wheaton College. 

An ordained minister in the Southern Baptist Convention, he has served on the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches, and has chaired the Doctrine and Christian Unity Commission of the Baptist World Alliance.  He is married to Denise Wyse George, a well-known author, and they have two adult children, Christian and Alyce.
