God has a particular purpose for each of us. To understand that purpose, we must open ourselves up to His will. Discernment is the normal activity of Jesus' disciples seeking to know and do the will of the Father through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The goal is to receive God’s calling as a gift and to respond with a total commitment of self.
Discernment to the priesthood is the same activity with the heightened sense that God's call may be the ordained priesthood. Saint Charles is more than a school of theological studies; the Seminary is a holy place of discernment, acting on behalf of partner bishops and the Church to help men determine if the call to the priesthood is present in their lives. The discernment process is holistic, structured upon the principle foundations of human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral formation.
If you are discerning a call to the priesthood, talk to your pastor and the vocation director of your home diocese. Visits to Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary are encouraged including “Come & See” weekend retreats.
