Bishop Chylinski was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 2007. After five years in parish ministry, he was sent for further studies in the field of Clinical Psychology. After obtaining his master’s degree from the Institute for the Psychological Sciences in July 2014, he joined the faculty of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, PA. He has taught courses in Pastoral Psychology in the Theological Seminary, and Introductory Psychology in the College Seminary, and he was previously the Director of Counseling Services. During his eight years on the faculty, Bishop Chylinski came to specialize in the development of a holistic approach to formation, focusing on the integration of the human and spiritual dimensions of the seminarian, which is consistent with the vision of the new Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis (2016). Over these last years, he has created a seminary-wide conference curriculum on psychosexual development, which affords the young man the age-appropriate opportunity to grow in affective maturity and a healthy approach to chastity and celibacy. He has been invited to offer conferences and retreats to seminaries throughout the country, and had been an instructor for the Institute for Priestly Formation in Omaha, NE. Bishop Chylinski was appointed the 32nd Rector of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary on July 1, 2022. During this very significant time in the seminary’s history, it is his hope that he can serve here with great love and zeal, and thus further the “long back line” that has been proceeding from this esteemed institution since 1832.
