Rector's Welcome

On behalf of the faculty, administration and students, I welcome you to our web site ... which now gives Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary a vibrant presence in the new digital world.

I invite you to explore the many dimensions of life and work here at Overbrook, where we have been educating future leaders in the Church since 1832.

Here you'll find information about our integrated schools of learning, including:

  1. undergraduate education in our College Seminary ... a nationally recognized program that few seminaries can offer
  2. formation in our Theological Seminary ... where men from partner dioceses and religious congregations prepare for the priesthood
  3. advanced education in our School of Theological Studies ... which offers multiple programs to inform personal learning and bolster ecclesial ministries on the part of laity and religious
  4. and a school of School of Diaconal Formation ... that provides for all aspects of formation for deacon candidates of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia

And to support these schools of learning, the numerous collections in the Ryan Memorial Library offer a wealth of wisdom open to students and visitors alike - whether in the beautifully renovated space or online.

Now in our third century of continuous operation, we affirm our motto exiit qui seminat  - "the one who goes out sows."  Our mission - and our joy - is to prepare those who "sow" as servant leaders and agents of the new evangelization, proclaiming Jesus Christ to the world.

Visit us - virtually on this site or on our magnificent campus - to see all that Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary at Overbrook has to offer.

         Sincerely in Christ,
         Bishop Timothy C. Senior, Rector
