Disciples of the Word
Proclaiming the Gospel is the primary duty of all clergy. As with most professions, preaching is perfected through practice, feedback and sharing best practices. Disciples of the Word is a mentoring and coaching experience for priests and permanent deacons seeking to improve their craft.
The program features a process of cohort-learning. Each cohort consists of a preaching Fellow, a clergy Mentor, and 3-5 lay Advisors who meet monthly to review a preacher’s work, provide constructive feedback, and suggest helpful recommendations for improvement.
The first edition of the program, conducted in 2025, helped form ten (10) priests as compelling preachers. Follow this link to read the 2025 Program Report.
A second edition of this program, with eight (8) cohorts for priests, is taking place during the 2026-2027 academic year. The links below provide more information:
A third edition of this program — specially designed for permanent deacons — is being planned for 2027-2028.
